November 5, 2025Maui AIDS Foundation and ProArts Playhouse Present: Transgender Day of Remembrance

The Maui AIDS Foundation, in collaboration with ProArts Playhouse, is honored to host the second annual Transgender Day of Remembrance at the ProArts Theater.
This event commemorates the lives of transgender individuals who have lost their lives due to stigma, discrimination, and acts of violence.Due to scheduling, this year’s event will be held on Saturday, November 15, ahead of the national observance.
Transgender Day of Remembrance, traditionally observed on November 20, serves as a solemn occasion to honor those taken by anti-transgender hate and to raise awareness of the ongoing challenges faced by the transgender community.
Across the world, communities gather to remember, reflect, and reaffirm their commitment to equality and inclusion through candlelight vigils, memorial services, and readings of victims’ names.
This year’s program will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., featuring a panel discussion with parents of transgender youth, guest speakers, a reading of names, and a special performance by Kaia Souza.
This is a free community event, and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
